Talking of Meyer’s cost to Palace being in the region of £20 million I have just read an article on Oliver Burke who has cost WBA a similar sum, albeit with a transfer fee included. Didn't Brentford's chairman used to work forfor & is close friends with Brighton's chairman? May explain the use of stats to identify players.

In the absence of decent scouts this is probably as good a way as any to identify talent. There is certainly enough data around.
