It's been a long season for us Palace fans, not a totally negative one, but the last run of 10 games or so, have been turd.

Yesterday was a comprehensive performance and probably the most deserved 3 points we got all season. We really did deserve to have a few more goals, I think it was only a combination of bad luck and (as usual) somewhat poor finishing in front of goal. That all said, at the so called 'business end' of the season, the 3 points were needed and we got them; job done.

A win against Brighton would be a great way to get a bit closer to safety whilst beating our rivals. But we'll rarely make it simple, so no expectations coming into next Saturday. Even if it's not the result we want, I think we can rest assured that we will probably pick up the points we need to finish the season comfortably mid-table.

Funny how a win can change perspective like that. To be fair it has been woeful recently so I think all of us fans can be forgiven for thinking it wasn't going to change anytime soon.

Sky Sports reporter Max Matthews' player ratings:

Crystal Palace: Guaita 7, Ward 6, Dann 6, Cahill 7, Van Aanholt 8, Kouyate 7, McArthur 6, McCarthy 6, Zaha 8, Ayew 8, Benteke 7

!!!!

So only three players scored higher than Benteke.
Dann, Ward and the JMacs were our worst performers!

I have met a few reporters who 'watch' games by sitting in a pub or staying at home and having two to three screens on at the same time so they can file more than one match report. Half the time reports only seem to bear a passing resemblance to what actually happened.

It was a big win, most probably the biggest in the context of the form we were in. Should have won by a greater margin but for their keeper it would have been 3 or 4 nil at half time...

If the Magpies go down their keeper would be worth tapping up, he looks like their best player by a country mile...
