—————Guaita Ward—Cahill——Tomkins—PVA ——Macca—Kouyate ————-Luka Andros——Ayew——Wilf Easy, for me it’s our best 11. They are all back training and fit again. That’s our best defence at the moment and Ayew looks far better up front than out wide. Townsend would be chomping at the bit to get back and firing and it gives us a strong bench. We could bring on Benteke and Tosun and shift Ayew out wide if we are chasing the game, plus we have McCarthy and Max who can come in to midfield as the situation requires. We also have defensive cover in Jairo and Kelly. It’s the best our bench will have looked all season.

I don't think there is any chance this is the team Roy will pick, but if everyone is fit and ready I would go 4-4-2 for this one: VG Ward Tomkins Sakho PvA Townsend McArthur Luka Riedewald Ayew Zaha Ayew can drop back to help out the midfield when needed and Wilf can have the freedom to roam. I usually would say I prefer him out on the wing but Sheff Utd effectively snuffed him out last time out and I think he and Ayew would make us more fluid. I also think this line up would give us better cover on the wings, which Sheff Utd seem keen to exploit. Luka and McArthur cover more ground than most PL midfielders and are capable of holding their own, but McCarthy and Kouyate could just as easily slot in.

I’m not sure Townsend will be fit to start in which case I would keep your formation but slot Kouyate in the middle and move Jimmy Mc to the right to put pressure on their wide players. I agree with Riedewald being in left midfield for the same reason I have McArthur on the right
