IF Sainsbury's were to decide to close the local branch, they will sell the whole site for redevelopment. As we're unable (likely) or unwilling to pay the price for the little bit of car park we need for the (so far non-existent) new stand we certainly won't be in the market for the whole site. It's more likely that, if they were to sell, we'd be in a worse position with a new owner, who'd have their own plans, than with Sainsbury's who have, at least, indicated a willingness to sell us the land we want. It's academic anyway as the whole 'new stand project' is dead in the water.
