We're worse than last year. We were uninspiring for much of that. I have put forward my reasons - why not tell me why I'm wrong instead of just citing a form table that's of no relevance to the actual league table. I have predicted 16th. From what you say you must think we're going to finish third. I wonder who's being realistic.

Are we worse than last year ? Do you mean after 5 games, because if you do you are wrong.

16th finish ? Not a bad prediction. I think our Chairman would accept that. I reckon we could finish anywhere between 11th and 17th.

I think the squad is weaker and made worse by injuries and lack of replacements. Even we couldn't be as bad as the beginning of last year. I believe it's a record - can't see anyone beating that one soon. I will say that our points return is ok. Hopefully we will win a couple over the next few games and stay out of trouble. I hope we see an improvement on the pitch or this is a squeaky bum season.

Hodgson’s annual mandate is to keep the club in this league. His tried and proven methods may not be popular or indeed attractive but they are effective. So why would he change from what he knows best ? Far from “ sucking the life “ out of the players , he has ensured they stay playing at the top level. I think you will find players follow the money, I can’t think of any that would leave a club to play more attractive football. Parish is lucky that in Roy he has a reliable guy that works within a set of parameters that maybe others wouldn’t.

Yes, it is tough to raise the enthusiasm given these circumstances but this is the reality. And you have supported the club for as long as I have so you should know full well that there have been much darker times than these

Obviously from league positions etc, but not in terms of lack of ambition.

If you look at realistically - the only changes from the end of last season are the loss of AWB and Bats - latter can't get in the Chelsea team but scoring for Belgium.

That said we've strengthened in other positions - Cahill is better than Kelly, Tomkins or Dann - when both fit Cahill and Sakho should form a premiership standard centre half pairing, better than more than half of the Division.

Our problem is Right Back - I said it at the end of the window "criminal" we didn't replace AWB and will come back to haunt and hurt us..

Look Ward is a great Pro and been a good servant to the club - but now he would struggle to get into a mid table Championship side - just ain't good enough at this level anymore.

RH and RL are going to have solve this sooner rather than later - now whether you play Tomkins there when he's fit - granted he'll not give you much going forward but will bring solidity to the right side of our defence.

With the players at our disposal - 3 at the back must be a consideration - but I fear RH too entrenched in his back 4 to be a realistic proposition anytime soon - anyway we have no one to play right wing back..!!

IMO - we'll be fine, scoring will be a problem - that said Ayhew looks better this term than last - but ain't ever going to be prolific.

Benteke - just what has happened - he's just painful to watch at the moment - just totally devoid of any confidence for what the last 2 seasons. He's still only 28 - just got to hope if he gets one or two - that confidence will come flooding back - but the way he is playing I'm not holding my breath..!!

Look think - we'll probably get to Christmas in a better position than we were last term, then bring in a right back and a striker and we'll kick on again and finish mid table again comfortably.

But it's so infuriating - if we'd done that in the summer we could really see what was possible -,as someone said we're a decent mid table team - but we just don't seem to kick on and that's the infuriating part about it..!!

Didn’t have the misfortune of going Saturday but the long and short of it appeared that PVA’s defensive frailties and Sakho’s lack of fitness were horribly exposed first fifteen minutes and it was game over. Only so much the manager can do about that.

Comments about us being undone by playing too high a line interesting given the constant whining about us being too defensive.

We are strong enough to stay in this league, at this precise moment that is the best ambition we can afford.

They should put that in the season ticket letters

Guarantee that the Spuds will show up at Selhurst and not be a shambles.

Hate to say it but that Irish teenager Connolly looks pretty tasty in front of goal. Wish we had a similar prospect here.
