Despite what I and others may think Roy clearly values the 'not spectacular' Schlupp and sees him as very important to the team: [Link]

So that puts to bed any idea of him being ousted. The article does incorrectly state he is playing at left back, but it's an easy Schlupp-up to make.

If you're reading this Jeffrey I hope you prove me wrong this season, just as Ayew has done so far.

I like Schlupp, works hard, gets the odd goal, great for getting us up the field with his pace and he's not bad defensively bar the odd concentration issue much like PVA.

I've gone completely off Meyer, we can't say he's not been given the opportunities. He's weak on the ball, passes sideways and defensively he's non-existent. He's technically better on the ball than Schlupp but you can see why Schlupp gets in ahead in of him, he's more effective.

He has been better out on the left, to be fair to him, but I still think he could do more to support PvA. He is clearly a target for Vicente's long kicks and he does do direct runs and has pace to burn. Kouyate has been far more effective in the middle than Schlupp was last season though. The question is, if Townsend finds form who loses out? For me Schlupp is still the weakest player in our starting midfield.

I agree Schlupp has improved this season but in my opinion himself and PVA are the weakest links in our recent starting 11.

His passing definitely seems to have improved and he is good in the air, winning a lot of Guita's kickouts.

He just seems to me to be miles off the pace in every game. He very rarely gets himself into the box when we attack, he can't beat a defender with a bit of trickery. Then when he gets back to defend he loves a lazy tackle by just barging into people backs.

He gets away with blue murder in my opinion and is robbing a living but Roy seems to like him because plays in many positions (none of them very well).

It is amazing people are always calling for Meyer to be given a chance. He is just not up to the physicality of the Premier.
Schlupp gets loads of stick, but he has done more for the team, than Meyer ever has. He is versatile, strong with a ferocious shot with his left foot.
A very good squad player in the Kelly mould, fans need to get off his back.

Not so long ago on HOL, Schlupp was being derided and there were questions raised as to why he was selected whilst Meyer was not really given a look-in. I think that the answer is plain for all to see.

The Scluppmeister strikes again. This guy is starting to become a bit of a legend just love how unassuming he is and always does what is required of him with minimal fuss.
