We last went 10 years ago and the exchange rate was wonderfully weighted in our favour but since then not only has the exchange rate got my worse but prices in Aussie restaurants have more than doubled. Sounds like another country compared to my memories. Examples from back then: three hour horse trek including lunch 30 dollars (10 quid) Massive seafood platter fresh as anything, enough for two but served to one, me, £6-7 Basic accommodation in Cairns for three nights - £6 a night including evening meal. Sydney just ate at those food halls, cafes and at friend's place so can't compare restaurants from then to now.

Australia is being civilised, as difficult as that is to understand, or happen.
