For those that are interested It starts tonight with last years Super bowl Champions hosting the Kansas City Chiefs. It's probably the only American sport I take an interest in (apart from being a big money spinner for me) so who are you going for.
My pick this year has to be the Oakland Raiders....

i like nfl but am worried about the hits and cte the players suffer... a big problem in the nfl. hope the people regulating it try to increase the safety for the players.

Not so much the NFL, but the college football on BT sport is some spectacle, and seems quicker. Roll Tide

There are new helmets available this season, but not all the players are wearing them and I don't know how long it will take to be able to evaluate if they're helping.

Best news about last night's game is that now we don't have to listen to pundits blathering on about the Patriots' perfect season.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

College football has a far larger audience than the NFL. If you think about it, there are 50 states but only 32 NFL teams, and some states have more than one. So there are vast swaths of the country without a local professional team but all have a college team of some description.

The college season is shorter so every home game is like a cup final. Fans gather on Fridays in their RVs and don't leave until Sunday. The game happens at some point on Saturday although it's all likely to be a bit blurry at that point. If you go for the whole event, it's pretty much as drunk as you've ever been in your life.

On top of that, college rivalries are insane. Some are so big that they play then on neutral territory; for example the "Red River Shooutout" between Texas and Oklahoma is held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Any mention of NFL should be banned from these boards, along with cycling (unless criticisms) and formula 1 (and any other forumulas - 2 etc for that matter).

That's how you know toothpaste was invented in Alabama. Because if it had been invented anywhere else it would be called teethpaste.

Don't really understand the sport,
but remember watching a documentary about a team last year and a player called JJ Watt was very popular looked him up for this season as he got injured and he had helped to raise millions for victims of the recent American floods
