Its a globalised, non-regionalised market. Whilst the UK might not be a premier producer and exporter of British Arms, UK arms dealers are numerous and prolific, and sell all manner of weapons from different countries to all manner of different sources.

I would imagine that a lot of their kit is ultimately acquired through legal trade with the middle east, being syphoned off or 'going missing', and trade with illegal arms dealers. I suspect close inspection and investigation would flag up a fair amount of kit legally bought by the Saudi's and UAE for example, is syphoned off and sold onto terrorists (for a lucrative profit). I also suspect that this is a 'accepted knowledge' in the arms trade world wide. Its a kind of truism, that drug funded terrorists / narco terrorists have quite impressive kit compared to those terrorists groups that are poorly funded. A lot of Britain's own weapons are usually too expensive or difficult to maintain for foreign buyers.
