I'm glad there's a thread on this so I didn't have to start one.

Had never heard of this show before tonight. Saw the name and thought it sounded like something from the glory days of Men & Motors or Bravo so stuck it on but I couldn't have been more wrong. What the hell has society become?

There were five or six women in various states of flabbiness standing with their faces blocked out in giant, illuminated glass tubes. Up to this point it was everything I had hoped it would be, however it didn't last.

Soon the inane reality aspect of the show kicked in; the hostess and a lesbian proceeding to inspect and eliminate the women one by one before their faces were revealed. I think the show reached its nadir when the hostess asked the immortal question "Wow, you wouldn't put that minge with that head would you?"

Nothing emphasises the unattractiveness of the average human body like it being zoomed in on in high definition, especially when I didn't have a single beer in me. All in all, one of my toughest w***s this week and a very, VERY reluctant 'Record Series' on my Sky box.

This analysis is spot on. I felt really uncomfortable looking at this show. I think I have a real problem with the human body when it's fine to be having a look. One of my best friends at work said to me one day "do my t*ts look big today?" because apparently another colleague had been harassing her. Being given carte blanche to check all I could do was look at my feet and mumble. This TV show is similar. It's not like Basic Instinct where you have to hit pause for a sneaky look, nor is it like drilling a very small hole in the partition between the male and female changing rooms at the swimming pool. It's just a fanny stood there for you to gawp at and that is far too clinical for me.

And you're right, the commentary they provide is un-erotic too. Imagine if you were watching a blue movie and the soundtrack was Andy Townsend going "Oh excellent, what he's done there is inserted his 8 inch erection into her v*****l opening where I imagine he will thrust in and out for a period of time". That's pretty much as erotic as this TV show is.

I agree with every word you said. The strange thing is that theoretically the notion of selecting your partner from a line of giant tubes full of naked, static women is a system that really appeals to me. However, upon implementation it just isn't what I hoped it would be, like so many things in life I suppose.

I'm very sympathetic about your work situation as well. I'd react exactly the same and, without presuming to know your viewing habits, for myself I put it down to p*** guilt.

There's only so many years of your life you can spend on p***.ub typing in phrases like 'lesbian midget college party' before it affects you in some way.

For me it the fear of being caught by a family member in the early years and subsequently a girlfriend has made the process feel guilty and underhanded, so then being told to look at close ups of nipples suddenly feels very uncomfortable, as though it's a trap.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I also think for me there is a certain element of - wrapped presents under the Christmas tree could contain anything. Christmas night when they are opened all you can think about is next Christmas.
