Good mate of mine died earlier in year(only 50)
I've noted a few comments elsewhere along lines of ' selfish basterd / should've made plans' etc etc. from other people.
My opinion is being 56, a medical history of pretty high blood pressure , if they insure me, the monthly fee will be bollo against any potential pay out.
as in I may as well just try to save the money/
So, anybody 50plus, got a reasonable plan that's worth paying into or a story about wasted money?
I'd like to provide back up, but I think the insurance people don't give nowt./more inclined to save best possible.

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

It all depends on what your potential liabilities are.

Sun Life Over 50s Plan?

No medical needed just a thought

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

V limited cover and expensive for what it is (generally used as a burial plan).

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Shows the profitability of the product.

Personally I have always expected a miss-selling enquiry.

Life Assurance principle. You offer the risk of dying to the insurer - they underwrite (decide if you are likely to die before your expected time) and charge you the rate applicable to your state of health. Underwriting aims to select individuals less likely to die too soon, but underwriting only lasts two years before the likelihood of early death is the same as the population in general. Sun Life or Liverpool Victoria issue policies paying a return of premiums for death in first year, plus initial gifts (pen, clock or something else) with a sum assured after completion of two years. Worth remembering that term could differ should death be caused by an accident. Good luck.

Over 50 plans are a rip off.

You should take out Assurance in your early 20's when you can afford the premium and you're in good health.

Most people don't or cancel them later on due to all sorts of silly reasons.

Too late trying to get cover when you've hit your 50's.
