Just been listening to Karen Carpenter. Up there with Streisand. Yes, yes yes ... i know i sound gay. Point being that none of these modern singers including Amy RIP cannot hold a candle to the two previously mentioned voice wise. Karen C top of the female pantheon of singers

Was that before they became huge? I saw the gig when they had just released Overture 10538 and Mr Blue Sky was still on the horizon. It must have been as Mr Blue Sky was released in 1977 and I went with my first wife but we split up in about 1974.

I was at the Wembley, Out of the Blue concert in 1978, boy were we all impressed with that 'spaceship' the like of which hadn't been seen on stage before. All looks pretty tame by today's standards.... Don't remember anything about Fairfield Halls, but remember seeing them over the road at the Greyhound, early 70's...Roy Wood had already left so was after 10538 Overture...

If you want your socks knocked off, get a copy of Streisand's The Broadway Album, pour yourself a drink, turn up the volume and sit back. Possibly the best female vocals I've ever heard.

Caught up with the stuff I recorded on BBC2/4. Friday was definitely the best night of the three for acts on the Pyramid/Other stage. Sunday was hugely disappointing I felt. Worst mud for years too... a lot of people would be put off going again I would think?
