Has anyone else had this? I've had calls every ten minutes from a withheld number. I answered the first time and there was just a beeping noise. I haven't answered since and they're leaving 10 second blank voicemails on my phone. To say it's irritating is an understatement, any advice?

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Sounds like a speed dialler. Hate them, you know it's a cold caller by the time lag before some smarmy git speaks and asks you how you are today.

In your case sounds like there is nobody there to pick up the call too.

I assume you have signed up to the Telephone Preference Service? You can still get calls but you aren't supposed to. If you haven't, everyone should for landline and mobile.

Nope, didn't know anything about that and have just registered. Thanks.

I had a weird experience today.... kept getting calls from a mobile number while I was at work so couldn't answer. I then thought let me add them on whatsapp to see if its anyone I know through their picture, a few minutes later I see the photo is a middle aged woman in a Halloween costume and the scream mask in the background.

not gonna lie that freaked me out a little only to become even more freaked out when I tried calling the number only to be told 'This number cant be recognised'

They called me a couple of times but I have not yet been able to answer...

We have one of these....

blocks the top 5000 call centre numbers automatically, and we have added to block all international calls. Anyone else on an unrecognised number, we just push the 'block' button and they never get through again - not cheap, but worth every penny!

I have been a member for years but the big problem is that far too many companies use overseas call centres who don't abide by TPS

Exactly.....

If someone doesn't speak after about 5 seconds I just put the phone down.

If they stumble over their words or are incoherent I just put the phone down.

If they same "Hello my name is Graham (or some other popular English name) from the Windows Error Message Centre" with an Asian accent.... I just say....

"You are a fcuking liar Graham or Diljan or whatever your real name is - now fcuk off!"

Adopting this strategy doesn't cost anything, is quite effective and good fun.

I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The best ones are the ones that phone up and tell you they've spotted a fault in your PC and would you please do all these things to help them diagnose and fix it.

The game is to see if they can work out I'm not using Windoze before I pi$$ myself laughing too much to continue.
