It's the system that you sign up to when you send your child to a state school. If you don't like it you always have the option of educating your children privately at home It's not though is it? As has been proven by this court case. They should attend school regularly, not for every single minute that the school dictates. And in terms of holidays, yes I mean ones involving a little culture, language, history or sights etc. along with some beach/pool time.

These f***ing idiots just will not accept judicial decisions. The DfE is paying the costs so the Isle of Wight council can appeal against this bloke once again.

Was going to get involved in setting up a new system to enforce this for a large local authority. This has now been put on ice following the court ruling. The fine is 60 quid per child per parent. This rise.s to 120 quid if not paid after 21 days. A family of 5 could be fined 720. After 28 days the case is passed to he court. the real crooks the travel agents should be tackled by the government.

Travel agents don't set the prices as that's down to the tour operators, airlines and hotels etc. Their defence would be that they don't load the prices during school holidays as they are the proper prices but they have to offer discounts at other times of the year in order to fill the planes / hotels etc If they are the rip off merchants that everyone claims then how come Monarch were minutes from going bust last year and Thomas Cook has been a basket case for years

Monarch was stuck in the 80s and was undercut by the masses of low cost carriers that have emerged.

Many parents complain that the cost of going away in the school holidays can be four times as much as during term time - but the government says there is evidence "that every extra day of school missed can affect a pupil's chance of gaining good GCSEs, which has a lasting effect on their life chances". Please explain how a child in year 5 is going to fail their GCSE's by having a few weeks off school 4 years before they sit the exam. just another example of those people who were bullied at school getting a job with a modicom of power, traffic wardens of the education world.
