I thought I'd just pass on the news that Brighton Pier is now under new ownership.

So what you might say. However, there are moves afoot to pressure the owner to change the name back to the Palace Pier.

As a previous long term resident of the south coast city ( and am still living 8 miles away) I for one will relish joining the lobby to effect this change.

For younger participants on here, we should point out that there used to be two piers in Brighton, the Palace Pier and the West Pier. Is there anything left of the West Pier now? I know it was very badly damaged by storms and/or fire.

There is just a sad small skeletal section of it poking out from the water.
