Probably normal. I think we feel that we should cry and make more of a scene at serious stuff, but I think in a lot of cases, that's its more about how we process grief. When my mum died, I never really felt sad or cried much at all, except at the funeral and immediately after she died.

In culture, there is no normal. There is only fashionable.
In psychology, normal is what a doctor says it is.
If you are pronounced insane then every thing you do and say after that is just a symptom of that insanity.
Including saying that you are normal.

Time for lunch.

I thought that you luvvies were supposed to bust into tears all the time?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Depends what you mean by 'in psychology'. Usually if its a doctor, that's psychiatry (as is for the most part the subject of Mental Health).

In terms of traditional psychological science, normal is defined by the average point on a bell curve, and deviation measured from that point based on statistical data.

Where as non-empirical psychology such as Discursive, Phenomenological and Psychoanalytical, would dismiss the notion of a norm (In fact arguably Discursive Psychology would adopt the notion you subscribe - where in normality is just a popular fashionable).

Phenomenological movements are interested in the subjective experience, whilst the psychoanalytical are more interested in the unconscious psyche of the individual (although all three of these movements share some concepts).

The discursive psychological movements of the late 20th century and 21st century focus more on communication, social interactions and how knowledge is accumulated and shared.

Which is a fancy way of saying a lot of psychologist would agree with you.

That's why I like you. You know stuff.
You wouldn't get that on a Millwall site.

My daughter is always picking me up on the difference between psychology and psychiatry but I'd have to argue that there is big overlap between the clinical side of the former and the latter.

last time I cried was approx. 1973.
I learnt the 'only learn it once' lesson of
paying attention before zipping up.
I didn't just catch it in the zip.
The whole zipper closed leaving a lump of scrote hanging outside.
Luckily my dad was an ambulance man.
He ripped it down in one fell swoop.
Cried twice in several minutes.
f***in dad laughed.

I wondered who it was who knocked the urn over.

It was a very provocatively decorated urn, in my defence.

Don't open the lid.

On an unrelated matter, Smokey was with me at the time.
