Oxford, Bath and Bristol are great places to visit. I would wholeheartedly recommend them all. However I think Oxford and Bath could easily be done in a day whilst Bristol would necessitate at least a weekend to see all it has to offer and is more diverse and appealing than the others in my opinion. I live in Bristol and if it weren't for my health/mobility I could find plenty to do every day here to enjoy myself. Theatre, Music, Sport, Sightseeing, The Docks, Brunel's "Gert" Britain Boat, Clifton and The Suspension Bridge (brunel again!), Diverse Restaurants, Pubs etc... it's all here and the surrounding countryside and other attractions like Cheltenham Races, are close at hand and easily accessible.

Watch out, there seems to be lots of murders in Oxford and with Morse dead and Lewis retired, there is no one left to solve them.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

I've lived in Oxford for 35 years, and never seen Clarkson. Seen Morse, Lewis and Jeremy Paxman though. Let me know what your interests are and I could put some ideas to you. Blenheim Palace, nearby, requires a minimum of half a day, or you might like the idea of a tour of the MINI factory for a couple of hours. Just PMed you. (Hope that's OK.)

Oxford is a lovely place, parking in the town centre can be a bit difficult but plenty of places outside of the centre. Bath is equally as beautiful been there over 50 times due to other half going to uni in bath, enough to fill a weekend would recommend the bus tour very informative and give you great views of the city and surrounding area. Bristol is by far the biggest of the three, tonnes to do plenty of history and sightseeing, zoo, aquarium, hippodrome and plenty of general activities can easily take a few visit so really depends on the free time you have.

As long as you avoid the Cowley Rd, Oxford is an amazing city. Especially if you like architecture, in which case, you could spend the day around the university and not get your fill.
