I guess it might sound a bit odd to say I have read a lot of books about serial killers but on that basis I can confirm that this two part drama was pretty accurate. Not gory or gruesome really as it focused on the post-arrest events, but very interesting. If you're into serial killers that is.

Which is odd, because a different friend worked at Broadmoor as a psychiatric nurse, and reckoned that most of the patients were disturbingly nice (or as she put it 'too nice to be trusted'). I spent some time once getting drunk with a Psychiatrist from Broadmoor, who said the same thing. That her patients were 95% of the time the nicest people you'd ever meet. Its just if you meet them in that other 5% they'd stab you in the eyes and rape the sockets just to see what it felt like. I got the biography of Rose West for £1 in Poundland.

Poundland is a surprisingly good source of books about seriously f*cked up individuals.
