That Canadian astronaut covering Space Oddity was pretty special but only if you watch the video with it. There was an album of covers by a school in Canada with a unique version of Space Oddity sung Acapello by the children. The Langley School Project I think.

Mott the Hoople did not "cover" All the Young Dudes... Bowie wrote it for them. Who can forget Peter Noone's (Herman and the Hermits) cover of "Oh you Pretty Things" Noone also recorded another Bowie song, one which Bowie hasn't actually released as far as I know. However, here's his demo

Arnold Corns Hang Onto Yourself/Moonage Daydream Bowie recorded these with some blokes from Dulwich College in 1971 while he was putting Hunky dory together. It was supposedly a vehicle for Freddy Buretti, the bloke who made his stage clothes at the time, though Freddy couldn't actually sing, so Bowie did the vocals himself. I've still got a copy of the single somewhere, must dig it out.
