Watched it last night & thought it was poor.
A mega death star (starkiller base which is a nod to Luke Skywalker who was originally going to be called Luke starkiller)
This mega death star that just so happens to have a vulnerable point on the surface... We have been here before.

Kylo Ren is even more of a whiney bitch than Anakin & when he takes his helmet off all I could do was focus on his rediculous nose, there is absolutely no resemblance to Han or Leia.

Rey, whilst clearly strong in the force is completely untrained yet out of the blue she can use force persuade & then go on to wield a lightsaber like she's mace windu & defeats kylo ren thus confirming Ren as the most pathetic Sith Lord of the entire star wars franchise.

Snoke is played by Andy Serkis so I suspect when he does make a proper debut I expect him to be more Gollum in size than guardians of the galaxy.
There is also more than a passing resemblance to Darth Plagueis.

There's hope for Finn & the mantle of loveable rogue being passed to him.

Thought the tai fighter/x-wing fights were weak.

What they did get right was fleshing out the universe, all the little things happening in the background, the aliens, the speeders all of that was spot on & I found myself enjoying that far more than the awful plot.

Pay attention Bond... He's not a Sith.

See it Xmas eve and loved it, but I think they do need to get off of the same old theme of having to destroy a Death Star etc at the end.
Also makes you realise how clunky and low budget the originals are now even though they seemed superb at the time!!

Of course he is a Sith.

...no, he isn't.

1. He doesn't carry the Sith moniker 'Darth'.
2. He's a member of 'The Knights Of Ren'... You see them briefly in the movie.
3. The Sith get name-checked as a separate entity in the movie.

He ain't no Sith.

Kylo Ren isn't weak. He took a body shot from Chewies gun that Storntroooers took and blew them 20 feet! Kylo took the shot and fell to one knee. Then duelled with Rey and Finn in the lightsaber fight while injured.

He ain't no sith and he isn't weak.

His story will unfold and he will become stronger with further training from snoke.

Good but not great, as said basically a remake of a New Hope but enjoyable all the same. Rey I imagine will be a good heroine for young girls but did seem to gain the force rediculously quickly and I don't think the should have shown Kylo Ren's face...made him softer.

I saw it a few days ago and thought it was great.

One of my issues with the original Star Wars was that I found Luke really annoying. Fortunately, they've made all the emo's and geeks bad guys in the new film and pretty much cut Luke out of it.

The plot was similar to A New Hope, but how different could it be. It's essentially a goodies v baddies movie.

I've decided in the next movie that Rey is going to turn out to be the daughter of Qui gon jinn. She's going to get kidnapped, and he will come back from the dead to rescue her.

everyone seems to miss that rey is shown to be a master with a stick-like weapon early on. plus, ren was shot so she was able to hold her own and then some.

i don't think rey is leia or luke's kid. as orphans, would seem impossible that they'd dump a little kid in a desert planet. but what do i know.

i agree that it had a mashup of the 1st 3. i was thinking, "are they really going to blow up the death start again?" and they did, with han leading a team to take out the shield, just like return of the jedi. weird that they couldn't come up with anything different.

took my 5 & 7 year olds - they said it was great and even better than hotel transylvania.
