Ive an mp4 film file with separate srt. subtitles file.
I'd like to overlay it or use so I can watch with the subs on the tv(not pc with vlc players etc)
the srt. file is 'open freely'.
is there a (simple) program to do this or am I doing something wrong?
Advice please, ideally from somebody that has done this rather than a link to a forum.
Ta.

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Are you on a PC or a Mac? If Mac, it's really easy using Subler (free app). [Link]

I'm not familiar with PC alternatives, but really anything that can "mux" should be able to do it. Once you add it as an srt file, you will be able to see the subtitles when you turn on the subtitle option on your TV.

If you want to "burn in" the subtitles - so that they are on screen all the time (e.g. for English subs of foreign dialog) - then use a transcoder like Handbrake (free app). This will combine the subtitles into the video so they become part of the image - which is an irreversible change.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.
