It might be one fan sounding off or an argument, but my favorite was at home to Charlton Boxing Day '82. Awful 1-1 draw we had Mullery as manager with a team of cheap has beens, e.g. Chris Jones up front, John Lacy at the back. Charlton were their usual lower 2nd tier dreary selves apart from a young cowboy chairman who had somehow managed to get Alan Simonsen to the Valley (ex Euro player of the year, knocked England out of 84 Euros, scored v Liverpool in '77 Euro cup Final etc). In main stand referring to Simonsen denim-clad bearded Palace hippy calls out: "there he is, European misfit of the year". A few rows down short, fat Charlton fan with weasly brown moustache and pock-marked face spins round in anger: "medals on his tit mate (points repetedly to his chest), medals on his f***in' tit, how many your players got medals on their tits? f*** all." It went on for the whole game rarely dipping below this quality but I can only remember how it finished with a badly injured Charlton player receiving treatment - palace fan: "they shoot horses don't they?". Charlton fan: "so why don't they shoot you then?". Palace fan: "Cos I'm not a horse, basically." The last line got the biggest laugh. This may have got lost in translation, but if you can recall any pearls of fan banter, or fanny batter even, it would be nice to see.

Ipswich were singing it from the Arfur in about 2009 or 2010 towards our subs warming up along the main stand. Have those messy, ugly mo fo's never looked in the mirror?
