I normally prefer to cook on a really low heat in an oven but....

Beef
Boeuf Bourguignon - the French Classic
Boeuf Carbonade - The best thing the Flemish have done since mussels and frites.

Pork
Caldillo - New Mexican green chilli stew
It might be worth trying a festive ham at Christmas

Do you mean Gammon when refering to festive ham? Forgive me if this sounds a silly question..

Yes

You won't get a better chilli/bolognese than from a slow cooker. Use half and half pork & beef mince (or steak), brown in the frying pan, whack in the slow cooker with passata and optional herbs/spices/garlic/onions/peppers etc

My dinner tonight as it happens !

I'm reading that as an invite so I'll be there at 7pm with some beers

Rice pudding in the slow cooker is great and ludicrously easy.

Slow cookers are great. To arrive home to that gorgeous cooked dinner smell is wonderful

I often eat road kill. Skin it, Brown it off in a pan then slow cook for upto 10hrs with Ginger, Garlic and 5 spice.
My neighbours cat was very tasty, think they were more annoyed with the tyre marks across their patio and lawn than me eating their pet though.

Never thought Ginger pussy would taste to good.

Don't talk to me about my wife and the kitchen. The only things she makes for dinner are reservations.

She won't take any longer cooking in the kitchen as the preparation takes exactly the same amount of time and once that's done it can just be left.

I use ours more in the summer as I do all the preparation at lunchtime, bung it all in the slow cooker and spend the afternoon in the garden getting sizzled. Previously we used to get sizzled in the sunshine then couldn't be bothered to cook anything afterwards.

In answer to BE's question about recipes - there are a number of recipe books dedicated to slow cookers and I've bought several over the months from garden centres at greatly reduced proces

Try a joint of pork cooked in coke (liquid variety!). Sounds weird but is absolutely delicious.

There's a bloke down my road who walks round in a Tesco's carrier bag. Turns out he is a brighton faggot.
