You need an oyster card. If not use a contactless credit/debit card. You can tell if it is contactless if it has the wifi logo on it (see pic)

Buses in London don't take cash.

Thanks Nick but the people I know have just arrived in the UK today and want to travel by bus tomorrow. I saw this contactless card on the LT website but it looks like you can't get one quickly enough. Am I reading this wrongly, if so where do you get these to travel tomorrow? I don't think you can get an oyster card as quickly as tomorrow either?

Most newsagents sell them. I think it's a fiver deposit + money on card.

The trouble with public transport is that you never know who you might be sitting next to.

Where as in the car, I know I'm going to be sat next to some annoying woman.
