My guess would be the guy actually has a laugh with his mates about these English dickheads fitting the hooligan stereotype which we are all tarred with, something I personally experienced while in Berlin for the Palace friendly.

Even in the eyes of the law it was non-physical, which leaves only the verbal which was in a language he didn't understand. I know one of you is going to ask me how I know he doesn't speak English. Let me find out.

As for the perceived humiliation, the argument was that the train was full. I have the same trouble every morning.

People are suggesting he's milking it while others are adamant that he must be deeply traumatised because we can't prove otherwise.

I'm not defending these scum but I'm pretty sure there are 3 people here arguing for the sake of it. Either that or they're of the sort who take offence on everyone else's behalf.

Correct.

The man prevented from boarding a train by Chelsea fans says he has been unable to work since, is on medication, unable to travel on public transport and is 'destroyed' - oh and his children are 'traumatised'. Claim for loads of compensation in the offing?

Do you know the family? Have you witnessed what they may/may not have experienced since a video went viral? How would you react?

Why not make a thread concerning the pr-cks who caused the problem yet STILL denied it in court despite the evidence?

Some yobs stopping a guy getting on a train. Hardly a lynching is it. If something like that can 'destroy' his life, then he needs to get one in the first place.

100% agree. He ain't got a very strong constitution has he?

Forgot the racism. Again.

Oh I see, we have to hark back to the racism everytime do we? Even though we all know what the threads about eh?
Whoops! I forgot the racism again!

...more the utter humiliation, imagine being picked out verbally because of your skin and then stopped from being where you want to be........in front of lots of other people, can you actually imagine that! obviously not by your reaction so far, you have no idea at all how he feels, coupled by the fact that it all went viral and the whole world watched while he allowed himself to be treated like that, he must feel extremely humiliated for allowing it to have happened.

Do you?

Who have got what's coming to them as far as the law allowed (although I would have to look at why an offence they committed in France was tried here)...obviously a horrible little group of c*nts who wouldn't have done this if it had they not been in a group - had it been one on one not in a million years would anyone of them have done this by the looks of them...

The victim however does give the impression to be milking this for all its worth which seems symptomatic if the society we live in now

A good post and reflects my view on the whole situation. The Chelsea supporters who did this are obviously scum and no one condones what they did. What we're talking about here is the compensation culture that seems to have become oh so familiar these days. You've hit the nail on the head.

Its the same societal culture that calls Bruce Jenner becoming Caitlin Jenner as 'brave' when on the bravery scale its hardly up there with WW1 Trench Warfare...'traumatised' 'on medication' ????

Grow some bollocks man

Again, very true. Some people don't know how lucky we are these days. We've not lived through any major conflicts thank god, but in turn this has made society very soft and 'brave' means something totally different these days.

I missed getting on a train by seconds at East Croydon Station in 1983 and had to wait half an hour for the next one - do you think I could still sue for compensation?

I was traumatised for years - had to have months of counselling with a dutch lady called Ms. Tulip Amsterdam of the Peoples Healing Collective for those Missing Trains.

My marriage nearly failed, but we managed to keep together as we reminded ourselves that we knew we might have to face the possibility of missing a train in the future when we wed.

By the way, before you say it did not involve racism, there was a racial dimension - the driver was of West Indian heritage and he grinned at me as he saw me running for the train when he pulled away.

Anyone who would like to donate a few quid to help me rebuild my life, I can forward you account details - thank you for your consideration, I know you are a compassionate lot.

We can have a memorial built outside the ground, with the names of every person who has missed a train since trains started running. Every year people will make pilgrimages to the memorial and lay flowers on the date of this Chelsea thing. There will be a minutes silence or applause on this date before every football game and the players will wear black armbands.

I actually blame my heavy drinking and drug abuse on the fact that I missed a train by seconds in 1998. I wish I'd had the benefit of counselling as since this catastrophic event I've had four failed marriages, been declared bankrupt, lost my home and can't go near a train station ever again. If I'm within a miles radius of a train station I break into cold sweats and uncontrollably weep before violently attacking any people in the vacinity. There were two black passengers on the train so again there are racial connotations to this tale of woe.
