Selsdon Little League urgently require new players for the new season ahead. We need boys and girls to play football and netball in school years 4-9 as of this Sepetember. Signing on is only £50 for the season (£75 if you have more than one child) and this includes kit and insurance for the season.

Selsdon Little League provides football and netball for local children and is organised on a voluntary basis by local parents and ex footballers/netballers. Founded in 1990 with twelve teams, we now have eighteen football teams organised into three leagues and twelve netball teams in two leagues. Both the netball and football are affiliated to their respective National Little leagues and through them to the All England Netball Association and Football Association.

Selsdon Little League actively promotes the idea of “free sport” for all abilities and is central to all little leagues. We try to provide sport for all children at very low cost and never discriminate on background or ethnicity. Every child that turns and is registered to a team will play at least one half of sport every week. The football is played at Sanderstead Recreation Ground on Limpsfield Road, Sanderstead and the Netball is played at Croydon High School for Girls, Old Farleigh Road, Selsdon. Both seasons start in September and run through to April, playing on Saturday mornings between 9:00 and 13:00.

We have six teams in each of the following leagues; for football the boys and girls have Bantams (Ages 7-9) Junior (9-11) and Senior (11-13) The netball has two leagues for the girls, Junior (Ages 7-10) and Seniors (11-13)

We currently need a number of managers for football and netball teams, as well as qualified referees and umpires who may wish to help out, if you can help, or know someone who can, please let us know. We as a charity provide an excellent source for Duke of Edinburgh participants with over ten affiliates benefiting from our services.

Our seasons are split into two halves. In each half, each team play the other teams in their league twice, and there is a winner and runner-up in each league. At the end of every season there are play-offs for overall winners, if necessary. During the season other matches, such as 5-a-side competitions, Chairman’s Cup, National competitions for the football, versatility rallies and local tournaments for the netballers, are organised regularly.

At the end of the season a presentation evening is held at which ALL players are presented with a trophy for their efforts. This event brings together all the players and managers, along with parents and other relatives, for an enjoyable, and we hope very profitable evening. This being one of our major fund raising events of the year, with all profits from our raffle and sale of team photos going to Little League funds.

Selsdon Little League have been a part of your community for the last 25 years and we need your help to keep going for the next 25. We urgently require new players and sponsors for the forthcoming seasons.

Thank you for your time and we hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards

James Scott
