This post has been merged from a topic called 'DJ Fox charged charges under age sex' by Moose

Trial by media again - all over the news, and regardless of whether there's any truth in it, he's Dr. Fox the nonce.

Anonimity for the accusers, and anonimity for the accused until a trial is conducted

I think maybe a middle ground could be struck in which anonymity is preserved until the offender is actually charged with the offence.

That said, the sheer volume of accusations and convictions that have grown out of the anonymity of offenders prior to being named points at this 'being the only one' fear actually protects offenders.

Or possibly bandwagon jumpers?
Let me be clear - I have no idea if he's a nonce or not. He may well be (looks the sort), but he also may well be just a normal bloke with a public profile who's been questioned about something, the papers have picked up on it, and several accusers have come forward. They may be victims, they may have other motives, and that is for a court to decide, but Fox's name is now forever blackened before we've made a full attempt to get to the truth.

And no, I don't know what the solution is, I just happen to believe in the idea of being innocent until proven guilty

Clearly the CPS believe there is sufficient chance of a conviction in order to level charges on the basis of the Police investigation of eight separate offences, of which four separate offences were originally leveled and then another four following a second arrest.

Notably Rolf Harris wasn't named until he actually made it to court.

Excellent point. Because It could have been any one of a substantial number of 83 year old Australian men living in Bray who were entertainers who Police confirmed they were questioning.

Apparently Magic FM are "evaluating the situation" before making any decisions. So who does he now sue for loss of earnings? Police? CPS? Press? Accusers?

I'm not normally one for lawsuits, but they've completely killed his career between them.

Cant be the police for investigating the claims, thats their job. Press are just reporting what they hear (making up sh1t for a passtime seems legit in this country). Accussers will be hard to sue as its clearly now a case of their word against his.

The blame for this fiasco has to lay firmely at the feet of the CPS who yet again have thrown good money after bad for a prosicution case that just was never there.

I know this might be classed as a tad antagonistic but I'm not surprised the CPS dropped another bollick when it's senior prosicutor is the same women who thinks every druken sexual encounter between two consenting adults constitutes rape by the male in the piece.

Should have walked over the Janner case. Stupid obvious feminist letting her personnel views influence direction and policy at the CPS.

His accuser for liable - Problem is that is a bit risky as the balance of evidence at Civil court is a lot lower than reasonable doubt.

Notably the magistrate and Fox don't deny the events took place, or that they were fabrications, but that in the context they could not determine if they were criminal offences - not that they didn't occur. Given that one of them involved kissing and putting his hand up the skirt of a 14 year old in 1991 is fairly questionable behaviour for a then 30 year old man - but as no actual sexual contact as defined in law occurred - not criminal.

Sounds more like sexual harassment to me than sexual assaults.

I suspect he won't be suing for damages - It might go very differently on a balance of evidence threshold.

Congratulations to him but I fear the damage has been done to his medical career.

He should be "struck off" as a DJ for just being a sh1t DJ, nothing to do with this court case!

His accusers are anonymous aren't they? Makes it a bit hard to sue them.

Magic should have to give him his job back, without question. If they suspended him they might also be liable for his wages since then too.

So a man that calls himself a Doctor but is not a Doctor and touches women's bits gets found not guilty. Was the judge from South Africa by chance?

No, they're names aren't allowed to be printed or released, but their names will be available to the defence and those in the court (specifically because one of them was 14 at the time).

However to win for Slander or Libel, he actually have to demonstrate their statements were false. Which is different than being found not guilty.
