Cold January Friday night back in 1975 (Charlton away).
Me and me mate( we were 12 years old ) heading back to Woolwich, along Woolwich New Road, When 4/5 blokes( bout 16/17 years old) , approached us, and demanded we handed over our scarves!!!!

- for those of a younger age- back in the day , the nicking of fans scarves (whether they be friend or foe was of no consequence !!!) was all the trend!!

Anyway back to the story, we of course denied having any such scarve ( also the scarves were made of a type of silk - so you could conceal them on your person).
In an instant the largest of group leant forward to my mate, grabbed him by the throat and tore at his neck until a concealed scarve appeared .To my horror!!!!

He subsequently looked at and then exclaimed with delight and shock “ Their Palace!!!! Ffffffffffing get em”

With that, my mate went one way ,and I went the other !!!!
I spent what seemed like an eternity being chased through a urban jungle, evading my would be assassins!
I am pleased to say that I eventually made it back to Woolwich clock tower, unscathed to board the safety of the bus which was waiting for me.
I am also pleased to say , me mate jumped onto the bus shortly after me also unscathed.O we laughed !!!
Oh happy days !!
