Crystal Palace ended their season with a 2-0 win at home to West Bromwich Albion.

A triumphant finale for Roy Hodgson's men put them in 11th place which is a fantastic achievement considering the Eagles lost their opening seven matches.

They were frustrated for long periods of the game by the already-relegated Baggies who suffered a first defeat under their caretaker manager Darren Moore.

Eagles skipper Luka Milivojevic was unlucky not to find the target in the early stages with a strike from the edge of the box that went wide.

Baggies keeper Ben Foster then denied Wilfried Zaha with his legs, with Grzegorz Krychowiak having West Brom's only effort of the half.

The game picked up after the break and Palace went in search of the breakthrough goal with Foster saving from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Zaha and Andros Townsend fired shots off target.

The hosts finally got the goal they deserved on 70 minutes with the lively Zaha converting Patrick van Aanholt's cross from the left for his ninth goal of the season.

Eight minutes later, Van Aanholt netted for the third successive game by collecting Loftus-Cheek's pass and rounding Foster to put the ball over the line despite Hegazi's attempts to clear.

Palace: Hennessey, Wan-Bissaka, Sakho, Tomkins, Van Aanholt (Souare 81), McArthur (Benteke 68), Cabaye, Milivojevic, Loftus-Cheek, Townsend (Lee 86), Zaha.

Not used: Speroni, Kelly, Schlupp, Riedewald.

West Brom: Foster, Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Gibbs, Brunt, Krychowiak (Chadli 63), Livermore, McClean, Rodriguez (Sturridge 74), Rondon (Robson-Kanu 71).

Not used: Myhill, McAuley, Field, Burke.
