We were tracking Wharton for more than a year. Munoz, I accept may well have been looked at on Glasner's recommendation.

Do you seriously think the new manager wasn't consulted on the Wharton transfer.

Probably, but he wasn't the manager at the time and I find it hard to believe Glasner would have joined Palace if we had kept Hodgson to the end of the season and got relegated.

Top players tend to last longer than managers at a club. Teams like Man United switch between managers with different styles, have undue influence on purchases and fail. Rinse and repeat.

Anyways, thankfully Hodgson's floating of Phillips on loan was ignored

It should be remembered that both Vieira and Hodgson did well in their initial period. The wheels came off later.

There was clearly a problem with Vieira that has not been made public, and Roy had the discussed injuries.

Glasner might do very well initially but it is a sustained period of form that he needs to achieve. That will be achieved with a stronger squad.

A lot of managers initially have some success, but get worked out by other teams, how to play against them. De Zerbi did well last season, not so this year as teams know what to expect, Iraola at Bournemouth has been a surprise package this season, doubt it will continue next season.
I guess refreshening up the squad and having adaptable tactics would help.

That was never even remotely going to happen while City demanded £6m for the half season loan .

Spammers took a punt that hasn't come off but then again they can afford to with basically a free ground to play their games in

And we still need a striker

I've been impressed with OG, calm, knowledgable and appears to have already had an impact on style.

I didn't suggest he wasn't told about it, simply that it wasn't a case of Glasner asking for Wharton as we were clearly already monitoring him with serious intent even before talks with Glasner began.

I hope you'll indulge me but I feel compelled to write a quick love letter to Oliver Glasner.

What an unbelievable job he is doing at the moment. What a difference in how it feels to be a Palace fan. I've gone from dreading watching us to feeling as though we can beat anyone.

I would say that the last three matches are the best I've seen us play in our entire stay in the top flight.

Every player looks happy and full of confidence. Even players who weren't getting a look in like Clyne, Hughes and Riedewald are suddenly important contributors.

At the end of that game, I thought back to the first three quarters of the season and how we just hung on in the final minutes and looked dead on our feet. Suddenly the lads won't stop running and seemed as though they could have done extra time. Notice how conceding late goals seems to have suddenly dried up?

I'm genuinely disappointed the season has to end and can't wait for next year. This form may even convince some of our best players to give us another season.

Glasner was an inspired signing.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

From looking at a fixture list and doubting where another point would come from before the end of the season, I now find myself looking at the table and thinking, '6 points off 10th place. 4 games left. Yep, that's doable.'

Incredible what a difference OG has made in such a short time.

But don’t lose sight of the fact that without Hodgson (or Zaha) we were bound to get relegated!
