In all the negativity brought on himself by Hodgson, I just wanted to say the 2 new boys looked good given the circumstances and the roles they were expected to play. They both showed good signs and will go on to become firm fan favourites in the weeks and moths ahead. Wharton looked to get on the front foot with the ball and freed Lerma up to chase further up the pitch. Munoz looked comfortable and keen to get forward as well. With a more attacking manager and philosophy I am sure they will be a welcome addition. They were very excellent acquisitions aided and assisted by a rather unbelievably capable and highly motivated young Manager, rather than one who was clearly past his sell by date.

Superb the both Not really the same sort of player, Wharton, despite being a great player is clearly not going to get the goals that Palmer does

Wharton will become a goalscoring midfielder. High single digit, low double digit. He's got the talent and the mindset.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Wharton’s impact is obvious to the eye ah he rarely wastes a pass and already plays like an old head in his reading of the game.

I would love to see a heat map of Munoz's in-game activity. It would probably be so hot you could heat your hands by it.

Wharton's our very own Rodri. Not sure He'll become Prolific in front of goal, but I'm sure he'll chip in now and then. What I like about him is his ability and willingness to pick a forward pass. Too many players in his position are backwards/sideways players, which just allow the oppo to regroup. Wharton causes havoc amongst defences.

Scorer of the winning goal in the 'Champions' League final 2026 perhaps!

You’re spot on, It is so nice to have a midfielder always looking to pass forward, and being able to do it accurately and to a team mate is even better!! I expect Roy bless him would’ve soon drummed that out of him, but we won’t go there

For years I have been banging on about a lack of a creative midfielder since the departure of Michael Hughes, Ben Watson and Yohan Cabaye. Now, at long last, we seem to have found him in Wharton. And a high pressing one to boot! The difference in our goal scoring has been marked. Prior to him the No.9 spot has been a graveyard due to lack of service. Think of the many strikers we have tried like Bamford & Sorloth who failed to make a mark but have since proved successful (especially Sorloth) Of all the 'stars' we have, Adam Wharton is the one we can least afford to lose.
