PV for me was a pretty easy script to write were it written:

Legendary player, not long retired, comes in and tries some new things, attracts plenty of young talent, things get rough, too inexperienced as a manager to really know how to deal with it, things don't improve, club suddenly in a bit of peril, players and club become unsettled and he suddenly goes MIA before being sacked.

Was a nice try from everybody but didn't work out. It's a cruel business but necessarily so. Think he's at Strasbourg now, to quote Willo: "Patrick Vieira, born 23 June 1976, is a French professional football manager and former player who is the head coach of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg."

I think this is the crux of it, but not just Vieria, any young manager.

If it was any other job, you'd want demonstrable evidence that they know how to turn things round. Especially given its a situation which is likely to arise.

Will be interesting to see how the season pans out for Carrick. Seems to have steadied the ship.

Oh, come now.

At the moment, as others have mentioned, Mr Hodgson is doing what is required with the resources we have, injury-wise. You talk as if 'negative style football is his default.

How come you've forgotten what happened at the back-end of last season, when he presided over us playing the most positive style football we've seen at the club in years.

I don't wish to be disrespectful but what on earth were you watching?

I do get so fed up with the tarring of our manager with the 'boring Roy-ball' toffee.

Still hasn't fixed us conceding goals cheaply essentially from set plays.

Last season is meaningless different time and situation.

I could ask you the same maybe you need to take the rose tint specs off.

Only Citeh and Arsenal have conceded fewer goals than Palace this season in the PL and I think we've only conceded one from a set play in the league so far (other than the two penalties).

So what are you basing your comments on? Clearly NOT last season since you regard that as "meaningless different time and situation".

ah yes. sure. Roy is making a pig's ear of it. I mean, you would never imagine us winning at Old Trafford ?

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

Is this thread still going on, Roy was and is a top class manager, and Patrick Vieira as a manager was and is a Buffoon.

I think Viera lost the dressing room. I have no idea why but from virtually the instant Roy was reappointed the players looked happier and more settled. I think Eze is perfect example he looks twice the player than under Viera

I just remember some of our devastating play under Roy with a full squad minus Zaha towards the tail end of last season after the frustration of PV with late concessions and an often toothless attack.

I'm going to be patient for the next few months. 4, 5 or 6 points will be an ok return from November because I don't expect to see Olise or Eze starting before December with our poor record of injury recovery. Hopefully come our tricky run in December we can be a strong counter attacking force and steal a win or two as underdogs.

Closing in to around 25 points come January with how the fixtures have arranged themselves will be more promising than it seems and a springboard for the positive team play that we can see with Roy sides.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.
