And there we have it, a Brighton troll

He needs to be gone , been saying this ages now

“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder

Last night, for me, provided yet more evidence that the HF is if anything the solution and not the problem. It was a miserable affair (if there's another nuclear war, it'd be no loss if Wolverhampton is targeted first) and our support, unusually, was a let-down. But what noise and atmosphere was generated to spur on the boys came pretty much entirely from whatever HF contingent was there. I traveled at least some way back on the train with what I presume were some of them and they were good-humoured and boisterous (in spite of the game) and nothing but a credit to Palace. Meanwhile, (I was sitting "above" the HF in the stand at Molineux) a row of spotty teenage Palace-supporting yobs, entirely unaffiliated with the Front, spent the game desperately trying to look hard, openly vaping and smoking, and the second half dismantling seats and then holding them up in triumph so their "achievement" could be celebrated by all. There are, unfortunately, some complete t***s who follow Palace. None, at least that I've seen, are part of the Front.

SYD…As a fellow season ticket holder, I would dearly love to take my sons to watch more away games. At home, we have great seats in the Main Stand and never an ounce of trouble. However, even though they keep begging me to go to more away games, TBH I’m not sure I really want them to ‘see’ or ‘experience’ the type of behaviour you mention. Shame really, because Palace has always been known as a family club.

I think you’d be fine if you pick the right game. The yooves won’t have many points. Go to the more popular games, ideally where a big contingent of the Holmesdale people go too. Wolves is really not a good day out.

Go to Newcastle or Leeds away. Essentially one of the further away games. The idiots don't tend to like to travel far to act a nob.

Vince, I think you'd be fine. Thankfully, the morons on display at Wolves are first very much in the minority, and second, only bad luck puts you in their path. I go to a lot of away games (most, if not quite all) and it's only once or twice a season that a situation like that arises (from memory, Burnley away last year was the last time I can recall seeing any trouble of any kind). In fact, I'd say away games are almost a better experience than home for the kids because Palace support is compressed into a small area of the ground so the noise is louder and the sense of being part of something, particularly because you're a minority, is heightened. Kids love that and problems, really, are minimal.

I've taken my boy away for some time (although he's twenty now) and the trips have become a defining part of our relationship; we've seen England together through following Palace. Yes, from time to time there's been exposure to undesirable behaviour but let's be honest, thet can happen taking them to Selhurst.

I'd say, probably next season now, take them to an away game. You'll be glad you did and I'd bet your first won't be your last. BTW if you want an extra adult in tow, my son and I would be happy to team up with you and your kids so feel free to message me if you want to. It's a great, bonding experience. That's my $0.02s worth, anyway.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.
