Not just player power, managers as well. This is Posturing, pure and simple. No manager or player worth their salt will be happy to say goodbye to the UCL for this. If they’d said it would work alongside then I might have thought it would have more of a chance.

They want to get back to the negotiating table with UEFA and carve out new terms that favour them more heavily. I can’t see any scenario that will mean this breakaway happens.

I think your last paragraph is spot on. Let’s hope the powers that be just say no more negotiations, you have let your true intentions be known, now f off

It’ll be interesting when the TV rights are negotiated. Can’t see many Sky customers coughing up however much extra every month to pay for this.

From the day the FA launched the Premier League it created a monster fed on money it could not control.

A monster where cash is king and where some clubs will always see themselves as bigger and deserving of more money than the obscene amounts they already get.

But cash talks and all this talk of expulsion is just bluster. Why would they get rid of the biggest cash cows?

More likely is some noise then 'for the fans,' the governing body roll over and give them what they want. Maybe to cut the number of games the big 6 enter the cups at the quarter finals? No problem. Maybe just play other Premier League clubs once and as you are elite we just top up your points assuming you won the missing games, no problem.

This is as everything in football about money and the latest attempt by a few clubs to hold the rest to ransom.

So far no one from France or Germany be interesting to see if they look to join.

Earlier in the season Manure and Lpool proposed cutting the PL to 18 teams. If there is some compromise over these latest proposals I think it’s inevitable the PL will be cut. Which will make life a lot harder for us trying to stay in it.

We may be better off if this Superleague goes ahead and the six get booted out of the PL as it means we have a better chance of being a proper competing part of the top tier of whatever is left domestically.

Apparently 3 other big clubs are poised to join my guess is they are waiting to see what happens. I would imagine they are probably Italian? possibly German maybe even Ajax?

Arsenal super club, hahaha Struggling to get in top 10. I believe this is the start of the end. They all moan about playing too much football. It will, if it goes ahead will morph into a NFL style franchise where the clubs run their rights for TV. They could walk away from Prem League and play once a week like NFL. This will happen, a super league and probably should but to be a closed shop, wrong. Arsenal and Tottenham fans are gonna love getting their arse kicked every week as they won't be good enough. Jordan was right about the foreign owners. JMO

So will the clubs really be bothered by a domestic ban. Look at the proposed format. Loads of games. Could an English club maintain a big enough squad to compete in both, added to which is the FA Cup. Could always tweak the new competition it to flesh out the season if necessary.

Do you honestly believe that the 6 will be removed from the PL ?

In the final analysis the PL is watered down by not having the so called top clubs in it and the financial implications and ramifications further down the 'Pyramid' would be gargantuan.

The SL has been presented as a supplementary Midweek League and perhaps for all the vitriol being expressed and threats aimed at the clubs and players a compromise will be found. It is just a matter of time before the SL comes into existence.

Player Power 2

Another legal scenario just occurred to me.

A player or manager of the big 6 takes UEFA to court under restraint of trade. Player points out that he wants to play in the domestic competitions but is being punished for the actions of his employer which has nothing to do with him.

I expect the lawyers are licking their lips at the court actions to come.
