A great venue for Sunday nights. Saw Queen, Stray, Curved Air, Groundhogs and The Jam to name but a few. Health & Safety would have had a field day there because it was a real fire trap if I remember rightly.

Not sure if it's still available, there is a superb book by Chris Groom entitled ROCKIN' AND AROUND CROYDON.
It gives listings of all the rock, folk, blues and jazz shows in & around the Croydon area between 1960 - 1980.
Plus great articles/interviews with local heroes, photos and leaflets reproduced for the likes of Greyhound, Fairfield, Olive Tree, Star, Orchid, ABC Savoy, Top Rank, Red Deer, Cartoon, Wallington Public Hall, etc.
It's in front of me now and I could bore you all with some of my stories as well as those in the book, but I won't!

No, not roon, just another Croydon music lover.

How's Perth these days? Will look forward to returning to the Sorrento/Hillarys area sometime. Last time I was there, I met Sean Murphy who spent a bit of time with our lot during a loan spell from Sheff Utd. Nice guy.

yep used to go there every week on a sunday night. this was 1978, capt. sensible had just left the band and they could not bill them as the damned. if memory serves me well it was the 1st gig back for rat scabies where he drummed on everyones head at the front of the stage! saw them there 3 times.ultravox(pre- midge ure)was an amazing gig as was the jam. billy idol got me n my mate a beer downstairs in the pub the night generation x played there. magazine was good but only about 100 punks there coz it was the eveening of the anti-nazi do in victoria park with the clash. i managed both. siouxsie and the banshees brilliant. i could go on all night, memories flooding back. Ollie's Dad, Ash-once a punk rocker, always a punk rocker!!
