Went to school with Deano (st marys the fairies) was a cut above us all , but was ball gready :}

He was, I played against him throughout my childhood against Winterbourne, St Mary's and Melwood (Sunday League). A lot of my mates played for Melwood and so I was on nodding terms with him. Infact the tight bugger recognised me while I was working at Our Price around '95, and asked if i could get him a discount!

He did stand out when I used to play against him - was more a midfielder in those days. Physically developed quicker than most of us so had a real prescence on the field - but what I remember most was that more often than not he would balloon his shots way over the bar then shout 'JEEEZ!' in frustration.

That's a blast from the past Melwood,I use to coach a side and we played them many times.Always produced a good teams at different age levels.
Think we started to field sides against them at under 11 yrs up to U 16s.

Who did you coach? Melwood were really good, especially my age group. Always in the top division, where as I languished mostly in the 3rd Played for a club called Wandelside then Alpha for a bit, who also had a good few teams at many age groups.

We started as GN,sponsored by the used car dealers and went on to coach Waddon United.
Also played at against Selsdon Jnrs,Southgate played for them and my eldest son was in the side when we played Eversleigh Rangers,John Salako's team.
If my memory serves me well Melwood played in a sky blue kit.

That's it,really look smart,all of their sides played a good standard of football and were extremely well organised.
It was always hard work getting anything out of them.
