Most certainly, and nobody said running a PL club is easy. I give Parish credit for making us a lower mid table side for 11 seasons, there is some consistency there undoubtedly. By the same token it would appear that this about as good as it gets considering this particular administrative set-up. Therefore it seems reasonable to suggest that to progress some changes would be necessary to that set-up. How likely that is, who knows?
Perhaps we should be content with our 12th placed finishes in the grand scheme of things and not imagine that there may be something more just around the corner.

yes 53years and still waiting lol

I agree things are not good at the moment but I also think there is a great deal of over-reaction on this site. Yes we are all devoted Palace fans and we all want to see our team moving on and further consolidating our position in the Premier League, ideally in the top ten. I don't think there's any likelihood we'll be relegated this year, as there are far worse teams than us. We have 15 points and that's after having one of the worst injury records in the league. Yesterday was another example of the bad luck we've suffered this season with two injuries to key players within 5 minutes of each other and I don'agree with some that Hodgson is the problem. Things will get better and we will survive. However, I do agree that we need some serious investment in some replacements and reinforcements, particularly with both full backs and a striker, so I hope we will see some significant spending in January and/or the summer. COYP.

Hypothetical questions, a hypothetical answer - a Chinese billionaire for starters. Perhaps the same consortium the was going to do up the park and rebuild the Crystal Palace.
In reality we are stuck with Parish. On the one hand he's done well to keep us lower mid table, but on the other hand he's the reason why we can't move forward, which in the modern football world is mainly down to funds. Why can't he find other investors and step aside? A conundrum.
I'm on record as saying there won't be any purchased addition to the strikers, we have three already, irrespective of whether they are any good or not. Maybe a loan would be a good idea.
We have midfield cover, granted some of them aren't very good.
Full back is the key area where the money should have been spent and is so obvious a weakness that I wonder what Ward has on Parish. I'm not a scout so I don't have any names, but other teams seem to do well enough.

I really like your idea of billionaire investors and the National Park. Parish has shown he can work with big money as a minority shareholder. Parish successfully found Harris and Blitzer but for some reason they did not deliver on the funding.
If we got the big funders, just like Staveley has done at Newcastle then Im sure with the funds, Parish could guide us into the top ten AND have a brand new gleaming Crystal Palace at Crystal Palace.

Doucoure and Lerma really aren’t bang average, this is a rather bizarre post imo

We dominated until Eze went off, and then our defence went to hell after Doucoure was on the stretcher.

We are very reliant on key players and are blunt up front.

Yesterday left me more depressed as a supporter that any time I can remember recently. Something has to change or we will be down the bottom in the new year.

We conceded 5 goals against Everton and Luton without Doucoure, his contribution to our team is grossly underestimated.
What I find bizarre is, he had been recovering from injury and not deemed fit enough to start against Everton but he flew off to Africa and played a game. Why did he not start against Everton?

Whilst I like your positiveness, it a whole different world from his u18's and 21's, you can't just start managing an EPL team on limited experience. It is exactly the same with the so called younger academy graduates, the statistics are there for all to see, only 0.50% ever make it to an elite level so your never going to build a succesful EPL team on the output from the academy!

In general I believe any optimism amongst our supporters has drained away like soap suds in a bath.

I share your concerns about our prospects, I smell the ether of decay and my brow is corrugated with worry.

Without doubt, if we are getting someone from oustide i like the look of Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, i like that he plays the same formation, and likes younger players

Yep, a likelihood, and even having the benefit of hindsight doesn't make it any more acceptable. Then again, we've had our time and not really made any improvement over the years, so if going forward isn't a possibility, then it's either standing still or going backward. We've spent to stand still and when our top players leave that will be it. I think it's called entropy - survival and improvement in the PL needs continual investment, preferably in the correct areas.

Do some research on the regulations for FIFA Competitive Internationals. He may not been fit enough for Everton but Palace could not stop his Int'l team from calling him up and deciding he was fit enough to play.

Stating the bleedin' obvious, that is a game we should not have lost.

If we are playing the blame game, then as Manager, Hodgson has to accept his share. But the players and the Director of Football / Board are in the mix too.

Roy was unfortunate to lose two such key players in Eze and Doucoure and it knocked the stuffing out of the players for a period. We all know that the right back position needs addressing. The call for Richards to replace Ward is understandable but you have to question why that's not happened. I don't think the answer is that '' Roy has his favourites ''. His job is to win matches and he clearly believes that Ward is still a better option than Richards. Given he coaches those players and sees them on a daily basis, I'm relying on his judgement here.

Another big selection issue is that of Edouard. This guy is stealing a living. He makes Benteke look industrious. Palace can't financially compete for a top striker, and finding a 15 goal a season gem good enough for this league is a tall order. Is it too much to ask for a player that at least works the opposition's centre backs when we're not in possession ? Mateta does that to a degree but not to the standard required. Between the pair of them we are blunt in attack.

The goals conceded yesterday were both poor ones, although that ball into the box for their second was of top quality and hard to defend against. Personally I thought Johnstone could have been more positive in that situation.

It's been said on here numerous times but the summer transfer strategy looks totally flawed. I could understand the reason for a squad lacking in quantity and quality had we not spent the budget on the players we did. Now Franca may turn out to be another Olise type signing, but it's a huge gamble on that being the case, and there are other areas in the starting line up that needed addressing more urgently.

Not even December and already the season looks over and a dour struggle ahead.

Look at the players Roy was forced to put in before because he had no other option and they put in performances Mitchell was one of them so was a right back we received 50m for from United remember him.

Riedewald as well when had a chance left back looked very good even won player of month straight away dumped.

I see you are another jumping on the negative Edouard bandwagon yet what is his return rate this season so far for goals 5 goals out of 12 appa how is that poor for a team which is not great at creating plus if you work it out based on current rate he would hit 14 goals come end of the season that is a good return.

Roy has one way of doing things this is the issue and why we always struggle against teams we should either be beating or drawing with.

If this billionaire came in SP would be gone.

SP found two people who had no interest in spending this was from his own mouth go and find the video he was forced into it because he had very little wealth most of his money has been made at Palace.

SP is a small minded business man who has not moved Palace on because it's too large for him to do so he is national level not world level which is what you need.

Remember this is the same man who has built us a fancy stand o wait that still has started how many years has it been going on for now.

The other thing I dislike about him and this has come out from ex managers he is friends with players who do at times go direct to him that is not how you should run things these ex had even said they do not like this and other clubs do not do this it undermines managers.
