While Burnley may well be the poorest Premier League I've seen at Selhurst, if Palace weren't '' on it '' we could have endured another difficult game. But...Palace dominated from the first whistle. And stayed patient when the goals weren't coming. It's very early days but there's a lot to be positive about and there hasn't been any of that for ages now.

fair enough but let's scrap it and when "they" are able to decide within 20seconds we'll have a look at it again. Or perhaps have a peek at the continent: nowhere it is deemed acceptable to have several 2-3 minutes breaks for rather simple situations. Incompetent officiating, both on and off the pitch is the standard I am afraid. taed Originally posted by Willo
It is within the realms of possibility that the VAR check was concerning whether Mateta was in an offside position when the ball was crossed.

Enjoyed this game, a lot. From the start we looked hungry, as others had said, we looked calm and the goals eventually came.. great mindset and display from not our strongest line up. Glasners words gave me slight Pardew vibes, winning a game 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 etc but at the end of the day, you got to be in it to win it.

We've just enjoyed our most comprehensive win of the season, kept a clean sheet, displayed progressive movement and forward momentum in our approach play. Burnley are no great shakes. I get the optimism after a win, but a bit of context is needed. Yes, we played better, more on the front foot, but against very poor opposition. When we beat a decent team in the top 10 with a few of our better players back, then there will a reason to feel the change has worked, the next 2 games will tell.

If Newcastle beat Blackburn tonight then Glasner will likely have 3 weeks after the Luton game to do some serious coaching with the squad before our next game against Forest. I, for one, have not been carried away with the Burnley result - just pleased that Ollieball looked so much more entertaining than Royball would have looked with the same players. I expect us to put up a decent performance against Spurs but am not expecting us to get any points from the game (although a draw is not beyond the bounds of possibility). I have less fear of us losing against Luton than I had whilst Hodgson was still in charge.

That's fair but the Burnley result was important for confidence in both the players and the crowd and to get OG off to a winning start - and the points obviously.

I like how we improved so much straight after half time - good sign of Ollie's influence - also Ayew and Edouard swapped wings, both were on their 'wrong' side first half to cut inside which isolated our wing backs - Ayew and Munoz worked great second half, Ayew overlapping when Munoz had the ball, first half Mitchell was isolated and had no room to go forward bcos Ayew wasn't giving him an option, second half Edouard was on his favoured side and still wasn't making runs for Mitchell - lots of flak going Edouard's way on the site - justified imho.

I hope Eze isn't even on the bench. We've had too many false starts with our two stars, and we'll need them both for the run-in.

But for what happened with Olise we would all be celebrating the return of the Eber. I do not believe the meds or coaches would let that happen twice (or 3 times if JRS was another returned too soon). Heads likely to roll.
