Thiago Silva leaving at the end of the season. I am sure we would be prepared to listen to a swap deal for James Tomkins, which would help Chelsea out. Happy to take Sterling in exchange if Chelsea paid up his wages beyond £30k a week.

Sterling's wages.....325,000 a week I think just make the whole deal unrealistic. He's 29 and his best years are behind him.

Chelsea really lumbered themselves there.

Agree.

Problem player/contract for Chelsea.
Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole.

If they want Olise then they pay cash or give us Cole

It's a sign of how far we've come that, wages apart, a 29 year old player with 80+ caps isn't an attractive prospect.

Not sure that is it. Maybe more why would we swap our exciting young number 7 for another clubs older number 7 who one could argue has his best years well and truly behind him and is on eye watering wages?

I suspect this is just clickbait anyway for maybe even Chelski looking for a way to offload a liability!

In Olise's case that's absolutely right but I meant more generally. In past years the idea of signing a player like Sterling would have seemed extraordinary but now it doesn't look very enticing.

They'll loan him out - like Lukakau and Ziyech and hope people forget he's still on their books

Yep, that seems far more realistic for them.

We really hit the jackpot with Olise....it's a shame there's a release clause, though some are suggesting that the clause only pertains to Champion league teams.

Strange days indeed, most peculiar.
