Welling have replaced former Eagle Steve Lovell with former Eagle Peter Taylor as first team manager.
Steve Lovell appointed manager of Isthmian League side Herne Bay. Assisted by his son... |

My local team but haven’t been for a while due to lockdowns and work Saturdays unless Palace are at home. Saw Edgar Davids play there as Barnet player manager.

I used to watch Bexley United in pre-Welling days and would later watch Andy Townsend play for the Wings. This in the days when I too lived in Erith. But surely Erith & Belvedere is your local team, albeit that they too play at Welling (at least they did last time I looked)!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

I think they still ground share after their ground burnt down about 20 years ago. I started going to watch Welling in 90-91 season. Palace finished 3rd and Welling 5th in the conference (the highest position ever for both). I didn’t see Palace lose that season and Welling only once (1-4 to Barry Fry’s Barnet). The best player I’ve seen play for Welling is Nick Pope but he only played four times on loan from Charlton.

You were just a little too late to see Welling's only appearance in the FA Cup Third Round - January 1989 at home to Blackburn Rovers of the 2nd Division. It was a very tight match, which Blackburn were a tad fortunate to win 1-0, before it all kicked off in the park behind the ground! I was gutted, as a Fourth Round tie was unimaginable. Still, I got my revenge over Blackburn in the 2nd Division play-off final later that year!

I did see a second replay at home to Reading a season or two later when they lost 1-2. And Paul Barren was a regular in goal for them at the time.
