Arson attack on Polish family with 'go back home' letter left.

[Link]

"Ewa Banaszak said her family wanted to stay but racist comments have "intensified" since the referendum."

This was always going to be the problem with Farage's populist approach. Tacitly blaming Johnny Foreigner for our general social ills - which is disingenuous - was always going to be picked up on by some individuals of the far right as an opportunity. Can't see it getting better before it get's worse.

Or... this is the inevitable result of forcing mass immigration on the people most of whom did not want it, particularly when it is directly detrimental to them.

Do some of you people live in a fairytale world?

I refer you back to a previous unanswered question:

When has an immigrant actually ruined your day personally?

The problems we need to solve due to an ever-increasing population will not go away if we close our borders. The population will still be over 70mill in 15 or so years time.

Every single day as there's such over demand for housing that I still live at home because I can't afford to buy (yet).

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I'm not engaging in silliness.

Before we opened the flood gates, the population was in danger of going down. The only way we can stop the UK population exploding over the next century is to vastly reduce immigration right now.

Migrants have children, more in the first generations than the existing population. Can you not see what will happen if we don't act promptly?

That's been an issue for longer than we've had Freedom of Movement, even though its factor, the housing prices and rental prices have been out of control for well over 15-20 years in the UK.

The only difference maybe was the financial suicide mortgages that banks were offering prior to 2008

Jamie, the problem is worsening due to supply. Supply has been more of a problem since 2004 when more East European countries joined the EU and started migrating to the UK (mainly England). We couldn't build enough homes then before the financial crash and then the problem worsened. We still won't be able to address the problem now or in the future whenever the economy is healthy again.

If we ever do there will more and more small flats and no chance for some to start or raise a family sensibly/healthily or at all. Because of that we will have to keep importing labour, and cheap labour which will suppress wages more and hamstring those aspiring to live in a house. As a result we will have to import more and more cheap labour to pay for pensions and welfare.

The EU won't want to give us a way out and nobody wants to pay for or experience hard times for a way out but you cannot brush it off as one of those things you have to accept or say that immigration isn't a factor in

a) supply of accomodation to those looking.

b) house prices. The very fact landlords instantly sh1t themselves when we voted leave should give everyone an indication.

Here is the fairytale

I just spoke to a couple of mates, she is Polish and came here 25 years ago, he is of Indian decent but born in Keighley.

All of sudden they are genuinely scared that their sons are being picked on because they 'look foreign'. Looking over their shoulders all the time. They were born and live in Cheam for goodness sake. Never had this before, something has changed. We have given licence to the most unpleasant elements in society.

I was genuinely shocked to hear this, I thought it was all a big fuss but apparently not. Things have REALLY changed.

This is terrible to read and the level of racist abuse reported since the result was announced is quite shocking. Something very unpleasant has been released when the Polish and Czech embassies are expressing concern to Government at the levels of attacks on their nationals in this country.

I still feel this is a tiny tiny minority but one who feel emboldened because they think that the referendum has somehow legitimized their nasty views.
