The negativity and complete disregard to how our club , are performing. We have survived yet another season in the prem. I remember being a little boy with my dad going to Bolton at home in 2001 and losing 2-0 then wolves losing again and crying knowing we had to get two results to stay in (division 1 ) at the time. Then going to Portsmouth winning 4-2 and having some hope and we all know what happened at Stockport!!

I’m fed up because I know what will be the replys to this, “we should be aiming higher” s*** transfer windows” etc etc , we are Crystal Palace , we punch above our weight, we always have done!! The season we got promoted we were favourites to get relegated to league 1!
Please acknowledge the job Roy has done, no money spent, just pure passion, you all knew the target was 40 points , Jordan ayew made it clear after every match interview “closer to target” etc . We have achieved this.

I have seen so much drivel on Twitter I have deactivated my account. I genuinely can’t stand our fan base on Twitter anymore . We sound like a deluded bunch of idiots with a right to European football and if this mindset carries on , we will end up the same way as charlton.

PS I’m not looking for an arguenement if anyone disagrees , I just wanted to vent but hope you will agree

I do agree. Wholeheartedly. Some people appear to have a very tenuous grip on reality with expectation levels bordering on insanity.

The issue for me is ambition, or lack of. You're absolutely right, we don't have a right for European Football but the issue is, we don't have any long-term strategy to improve ourselves and achieve higher than 'avoiding relegation' each season.

We've got a stop-gap manager (and he is, he came in to steady the ship after FDB) with a tiny squad of ageing players, who play defensive football without any attacking flair.

So my issue isn't that I don't appreciate us being where we are - yes this is the best we've arguably ever been - but I want us to have a long-term vision and build on where we are. And I feel that is missing.

I'm not one of those fans who's throwing their toys our their pram right now, but I am in the camp of wanting progression of some sort for next season.

Unfortunately Dougie, no team other than Man U , Man City, Arsenal , Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool are certainties to not be relegated . Every other team will have to look over their shoulder and this is the peak of our mountain unless we have huge investment and for that I’m very proud!!

For the money they’re paying supporters do have the right to expect to be entertained though.
Football is entertainment whenever their ridiculous wages are mentioned but in the points business after a dismal 0-0.

In 2001 we stuck by a hopeless manager for far too long due to nostalgia and poor excuses for his awful performance. Smith should have been long gone well before that.

At the start of the next season we’d got to top of Division 1 and were looking fantastic with the same bunch of players. That was until Bruce left.

I had to read this twice. How can it be that someone is not wanting "the next level" or "more exciting football"? We need a new manager! And a new team. Not forgetting a new recruitment team. And also the board to resign and be bought out by a multi-billionaire..

Deluded man!

No, they have the right to not go and spend the money on something else.

To fulfil ambition and go to the next level ( whatever that means ) requires a huge amount of money we do not have.

It's as simple as that

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Great post. I will admit that I am so disinterested at the moment that I don’t even know when our games are or who we’ve still got to play. All I know is we’re about 14th now. The Leicester game was the last time I watched us and it was dire.

Despite this, I will not criticise Roy as I know he’s doing a superb job on the whole. It’s a results based industry and we achieved our target before this recent run. It’s understandable that the motivation has now gone.

New season with new motivation soon. There’s no obligation to keep watching Palace if you really can’t stand it.

I hope not expect we can move up to the next level.

My concern and I suspect this applies to many is that we have an ageing squad and the last few transfer windows we have done nothing about this. This has severely hampered the manager and forced him to play a percentage style football which is frankly boring.

We need at least 5 younger players and it never bodes well when you have too much upheaval in a short time. The better run clubs bring in 2/3 players every year on a regular basis.

I am not expecting to sign Messi but Burnley are a good role model for us. They have 3/4 strikers who are not brilliant but manager around 10 goals a season each. Dyche is able to rotate something I am sure Roy would love to do.

We are circling the drain if we do not have a good window this time I think we will go down.

Sakho’s shoulder is an arm, a blade of grass is offside and a foul is not a penalty! Palace’s results are not a reflection of what they should be. In anY case we Already had the same points we had last season 75% through this season. We are Palace, another season in the Premier? I’m happy With what Roy has achieved 😁 (if frustrated with the blatant favouritism of the officials/VAR.

I am one of the more positive and supportive fans on this site, probably even when a player or manager no longer deserves it; however, it really has been a hard watch at times this season. I do think Roy has done a great job keeping the club stable, but I would like to see a bit more attacking next season. Last night showed we are capable of attacking more and I actually think just 2-3 first-team quality signings would make a huge difference. I don't care about fighting for a European spot as we're not there yet in terms of finances, instead I'm concerned about seeing us play some decent football.
